The more information you can send us up front the better. The more distilled the information, the faster we can process it and with less confusion - all of which saves you time and money. As an example, many of our customers prepare “To Be Flows” (desired process flows) and work out the details beforehand.
LEARN SALESFORCE
When you understand how Salesforce is set up, it helps orient you to the right solution much faster than discussing it abstractly and theoretically. These are the most relevant Salesforce Trailhead Trails you should complete
MAKE TIME
It’s vitally important to invest the time during the project to making it a success. Make time for meetings. If scheduling creates a few days delay, that can cause a few days delay in the delivery of the project if it’s on the critical path.
Be on time for meetings. Meetings can get expensive when multiple people are on it, and being 15 minutes late with 4 people on the call is a full hour wasted.
MAKE DECISIONS QUICKLY
You know your organization better than we do and when a decision needs to be made, we count on our customers to be able to make those decisions quickly so that we can move quickly.
Also, determine ONE POINT OF CONTACT so that we do not have to arbitrate a decision across multiple parties.
CONSIDER TRADEOFFS
Remember that not all bugs may have a high enough priority and low enough cost to fix. Consider the tradeoffs of a bug fix versus a workaround versus a process change versus training end-users of any limitations. Perfection can get very expensive.
BE FLEXIBLE
You might have a very specific capability in mind but that has to be coupled with what Salesforce can offer and at what cost. For example, you might wish your user interface (UI) to look a certain way. Salesforce has certain options available to you that are turnkey (“native” functionality) and others which are custom (requiring code).
Remember there are multiple ways to satisfy business requirements -- utilize the option that gives you the lowest cost and is most future-proofed.
KEEP IT SIMPLE, S...
Automation is great but over-automation can add cost and complexity. Think about the cost of complexity in automating rules -- particularly complicated rules that are difficult to maintain. Keep it simple, especially at the start.
You can always build more complexity after you get more experience
USE THE PARKING LOT! PHASED APPROACH
Look to take a phased approach to your project. Salesforce is great for incremental improvements so defining the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is important to decrease complexity and increase the chance for success.
Releasing a "tricked out" solution for phase I will likely have wasted work. A simpler phase I enables you to learn and create a much more effective phase II.
COMMUNICATE
The key to a successful partnership is open and honest communication. We want to hear feedback early and often. Please bring up issues early and often with your MondayCall Account Manager, Project Manager, Consultant as appropriate. We want to make sure we course correct early.
At any point we want to know if we are not providing "five star" service.
